I hold a PhD from the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Lisbon (FPUL), with additional affiliations at the Faculty of Psychology and Science Education at the University of Coimbra and Darmstadt Technical University. My academic journey also includes a Post-Doc in Educational Psychology from FPUL and the Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores - Investigação e Desenvolvimento at the Instituto Superior Técnico, INESC-ID-IST. My Master's degree focused on science education and psychological development at the Portuguese Catholic University in Lisbon. As a certified instructor in Development and Education, English, and Portuguese by the Scientific and Pedagogical Council of Continuous Teacher Training (CCPFC/RFO-34456/14), I bring a diverse skill set to my work. I have been an active member of the Research Center for Psychological Science (CICPSI - ProAdapt group) in Educational Psychology since 2015, previously affiliated with INESC-ID until 2021. Currently, I serve as the coordinator of the Cyberbullying Studies Program (CSP) and a researcher for the Study Program for Self-Regulated Learning. My involvement extends to teaching various subjects such as Life-long Learning, Innovation and Technology, and leading seminars for the Master's Degree in Educational & Vocational Psychology at FPUL. Additionally, I contribute to Doctoral Seminars. Engaged in numerous funded national and international projects, including Te@ch4SocialGood (10.54499/PTDC/PSI-GER/1918/2020), CyberEduc@te (2022.02218.CEECIND/CP1752/CT0001), and EMPOWER (GAP-101060918. HORIZON-CL2-2021, TRANSFORMATIONS-01-05) , I collaborate with multidisciplinary teams exploring the intersections of serious games, artificial intelligence (AI), and psychological constructs. This research yields novel theoretical insights in psychology and practical applications for technology use. My commitment extends to supervising national and international PhDs, Masters, and PostDocs (32), with and without funding. I have a prolific publication record in peer-reviewed journals (49), 8 conference papers, 8 book chapters, and I actively participate in national/international conferences (74). My primary research interests lie in investigating the individual and contextual factors influencing peer violence, particularly in cyberbullying. Leveraging cutting-edge technology such as EEG, eye tracking, and AI/Social Interactive Agents, I explore learning, cognitive, emotional, and moral processes, and development. I am dedicated to understanding human emotional and moral (dis)engagement in social interactions and learning processes leading to pro-social behavior. I am currently focusing on a call to investigate emotions and moral (dis)engagement in cyberbullying, considering individual differences and contextual factors. The goal is to provide schools with innovative educational resources based on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) to manage cyberbullying situations. Through my research, I aspire to inspire fellow researchers to explore emotions and moral (dis)engagement in cyberbullying and understand how socio-emotional skills shape adolescents' behavior in a digital society. I also propose to contribute with serious-game-based platforms with AI to facilitate children's learning, cognitive, and emotional development, making a significant impact on social awareness a well as individual and collective learning patterns. Within this research domain, I examine psychological processes in both typically developing children and those with neurodevelopmental disorders. I anticipate providing training for education professionals through ongoing projects and delivering valuable resources to the academic and broader community for future research and program enhancement. I believe these research avenues are timely and aim to develop effective resources that inform researchers, education professionals, policymakers, and the extended community.
