Catarina Luís is a Senior Researcher at Madeira Chemistry Research Centre (CQM, https://cqm.uma.pt/) research unit. After her graduation in Biochemistry in 2004 (Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto – UP), she has got a MSc in Applied Biochemistry (Madeira University) in 2009. In 2019, she has got a Ph.D. in Chemistry (Madeira University) where she investigated a potential strategy for breast cancer diagnosis based on metabolomic profile of urine, cancer cell lines and tissue. In addition, she participated in several courses and scientific meetings, contributing in many research projects and activities developed at CQM. Her research interests are mainly focused on the metabolomic studies for the identification of breast cancer biomarkers in biological samples using several analytical methodologies. As a result of her scientific activity, she is co-author of 49 SCI papers (H-index: 17; Number of Scopus citations: 1023) and 6 book chapters in international peer-reviewed journals. Also, her work resulted in 5 oral communications and more than 40 poster presentations in International and National conferences. She is a regular referee of several scientific journals, including Cancers, Life, Diagnostics, Antioxidants, Breast Cancer Research, Metabolites, Molecules, Biomolecules among others (publons.com/a/1338394/) and also Guest Editor of Special Issue in Metabolites (MDPI).
