Frederico Guilherme de Sousa da Costa Pereira graduated in Biochemistry at the University of Coimbra, Portugal and completed his PhD in 2007 at Faculty of Medicine University of Coimbra (FMUC). He is Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at FMUC. He is an integrated researcher at Center for Innovative Biomedicine and Biotechnology, University of Coimbra(CIBB), a research consortium including Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology, University of Coimbra (CNC-UC) and Coimbra Institute for Clinical and Biomedical Research (iCBR), Faculty of Medicine, University of Coimbra, Portugal. His main areas of research are the following: 1-Rodent models in neuroscience research (e.g.. drugs of abuse neurotoxicity, PD models, animal models of depression, prediabetes); 2-Brain dysfunction and immune system; 3-Circulating extracellular vesicles and brain disorders; 4-Physical exercise and neuroprotection/neurorepair strategy; 5-Neurochemical, glial and behavioral profiling. He has established several international collaborations with leading experts in the field of Neurosciences, his H-index index is 20 (scopus) and published 54 peer-reviewed papers indexed in pubmed ((Pereira F or Pereira Frederico or Pereira FC) and (Coimbra or Viseu or Jefferson)) and 4 book chapters. He led 2 FCT projects and participated in several other international projects as a team member. He is co-author of more than 100 scientific communications. He is Member of the following Societies and other scientific organizations: Sociedade Portuguesa de Farmacologia (SPF), International Drug Abuse Research Society (IDARS) and Society for Neurosciences (SFN) . He served as coordinator of The Toxicology Section of SPF (2010-2012). He is now supervising 3 PhD students and had already supervised 1 PhD student, 1 post-Doc and 22 Master students.
