Simone S. Silva is a Principal Investigator at 3Bs Research Group, ICVS/3Bs Associated Laboratory at the University of Minho (Portugal). S.S.Silva received her PhD in Materials Science and Technology – Biomaterials in 2008 at the University of Minho in collaboration with the University of Aveiro and the University of Trento, Italy. She obtained an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering (1998) and a Master's in Polymers (2001) from UFRN, Brazil. She has about 15 years of experience exploiting green technologies applied to natural polymers. S.S.Silva has centered on creating biologically active ionic liquids as eco-friendly solvents in creating cutting-edge biomaterials. She has also worked on material processing in the synergistic combination between natural products and marine- and plant-derived polymers as biomaterials for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. These efforts have resulted in noteworthy achievements, prestigious publications, and collaborations between in-house and external institutions within and outside Europe. As a result of her research efforts, Simone S Silva is the author or co-author of 65 published scientific papers, 13 book chapters, and two patents, with more than 4648 citations and an h-index of 32 (35 according to Google Scholar), besides several oral and poster communications in international meetings.
