Margarida S. Miranda has a degree in Chemistry - Scientific Branch (1996) and a degree in Chemistry - Educational Branch (2008) from the Faculty of Science University of Porto (FCUP). She has received 3 awards from FCUP: best grade of Physical Chemistry discipline (1994/95) (award Prof. Doctor Mendonça Monteiro), best grade of course Chemistry - Scientific Branch (1995/96) (award Prof. Doctor Teresa Fonseca) and best grade of course Chemistry - Educational Branch (2007/2008) (award Prof. Doctor Vasco Teixeira). She completed her PhD in Chemistry from FCUP, in 2001. From 2001 to 2007 she was a post-Doc fellow at Centro de Investigação em Química University of Porto (CIQUP), where she has done research on experimental and computational thermochemistry of aromatic organic compounds. From 2009 to 2014 she was an auxiliary researcher at CIQUP under Ciência2008 program. During this period she was involved in the development of semiconductor nanomaterials based on CdSe and CdTe quantum dots conjugated with dendrimers for sensing and imaging applications. She was also involved in the study of the degradation mechanism of personal care products in chlorinated waters and under sun exposure using chromatographic techniques and computational chemistry tools. In 2015 she joined the ICVS/3B`s Associate Laboratory, University of Minho. Since then, she has been focused in the development of nano-biomaterials for drug delivery and tissue engineering and regenerative medicine (TERM) applications, particularly exploring different magnetic nanoparticles and polymeric nanoparticles. She has published 83 articles in peer reviewed journals, 4 conference papers and 3 book chapters. She has an h index of 22 and over 1500 citations (Scopus). She acts as a peer reviewer in several international journals. She has been also involved in the scientific committee and organization of international scientific events (the most recent event EORS2023). She has more than 60 communications in international/national conferences. She has co-supervised undergraduate, Msc and PhD students. She was member of the jury of PhD and MSc thesis. She has participated as researcher in several projects. She has been involved in the preparation of national and european project proposals (FCT, RIA, LaCaixa, ERC).
