Isabel Catarina Duarte is a Biomedical Engineer currently working on Neurosciences at the University of Coimbra, specifically at the Institute of Nuclear Sciences Applied to Health. ICD specializes in functional magnetic resonance imaging and in applying clinical Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). She has undergone certified clinical TMS and Good Clinical Practice training. She is proficient in utilizing various neuroimaging tools, including fMRI, EEG, ECoG, fNIRS, TMS, and TDCS, for research in the context of health and disease. Recently, ICD received training in TMS/fMRI and is collaborating with the ENIGMA consortium. Her responsibilities encompass experimental design, acquisition, and analysis of neuroimaging data, as well as stimuli programming, which includes virtual reality paradigms. Her primary interests lie in studying healthy cognition and neurodegenerative disorders. Since 2014, ICD published 49 articles in peer reviewed journals, 10 as first author, presenting an h-index of 15 for her research impact level and having experience as reviewer. She co-supervised 10 MSc dissertations, among Biomedical Engineering, Physics and Medicine students. She participates or participated as Researcher in 13 funded projects. She earned her master's degree at Siemens SA Healthcare Sector, focusing on 3D image reconstruction. She pursued her studies in Biomedical Engineering at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra, Portugal.
