Tenured Assistant Researcher (Investigador Auxiliar) at the Institute for Systems and Robotics (ISR), Lisboa, Portugal. He has been involved in multiple national and EU funded projects such as RockEU2, SciRoc, SMAVNET, MBZIRC, DURABLE, AERO.Next and he was the principal investigator for two Eurobench projects MADROB and BEAST to create the first benchmarking framework for robotic systems in Europe and the PRR Aero.Next project. He has received several awards for his research work including the best paper award from IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS). He is in the technical and organizing committee of the European Robotic League (ERL) since the beginning and has actively participated in the design and execution of more than 20 international competitions around the world in the domain of service robots. He was the team leader of the ISR team at the MBZIRC 2020 service robot competition winning one of the three challenges. He holds a dual PhD in Robotics from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland and in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon.
