Ruilong Sheng received his B.Sc degree (Biochemistry) in 2002 from South-Central University for Nationalities, China. In 2008, he obtained his PhD degree (Organic Chemistry) from Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), China. From 2009 to 2011, he conducted postdoctoral research in organic polymer chemistry and biomaterials at Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, CAS, China, then he worked there as an associate research professor. From 2015 to 2017, he was invited to work at Université de Montréal and McGill University, Canada, as an invited scientist/professor. Later, he joined CQM-Centro de Química da Madeira at Universidade da Madeira, Portugal as a Senior researcher (R4, Research Professor) and group leader. Since 2022.06, he has been serving in CQM as a Portugal national FCT fund-granted scientist. His research interests include organic and macromolecular chemistry, supramolecular chemistry, natural products, fluorescent probes, biomaterials and nanobiotechnology. He published 105 papers (with 42 as the first or corresponding author, cited: >3100 times, H-index=31, i10 index = 50, Google Scholar: Ruilong Sheng) on international journals including: Org. Lett., J. Mater. Chem B, Eur. J .Org. Chem, Polym. Chem, Anal. Chem, Biomaterials, Biosens. Bioelect., Coord. Chem. Rev., Mater. Horizon., Chem. Commun., ACS Appl. Mater. Interfaces., Nanomaterials, Rsc Adv., Macromol. Biosci, Bioorg. Med. Chem, Tetrahedron, Int. J. Mol. Sci, and Talanta. He applied 18 patents (9 granted) and published 29 conference abstracts and gave 10 invited lectures. He serves as an active peer reviewer (>260 times review) in many international journals (Web of science: Ruilong Sheng). He also served as an invited editor of international journals including: Front. Chem., Front. Oncol., Nanomaterials, Adv. Polym. Tech., Gen. Chem., Med. Res., and Int. J. Polym. Sci..
