Isabel Cláudia Masson Poiares Baptista, is a dentist who graduated by the Faculty of Dentistry of Lisbon (1989) and has a Ph.D. from the Faculty of Medicine of Coimbra (2006). She's an Auxiliar Professor of Periodontology of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra, Portugal. Professor Isabel Poiares Baptista is the coordinator of the curricular Unit - Pre-Clinic 2 (Periodontology, Oral Medicine and Oral Surgery - 3th year) and regent of the valence of Periodontology of the Integrated Clinic unit (5th year), both from the Integrated Master of Dentistry at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra. Additionally she is the Director of the Institute of Periodontology. Atualy she´s an integrated member at the Center for Research in the Environment, Genetics and Oncobiology (Cimago), collaborating with the group Human Genome Variations and Disease, and at the Center for Innovation and Research in Oral Sciences (CIROS), both from the Faculty of Medicine. Additionally, she´s a member collaborator of the Center for Functional Ecology – Science for people of the planet, at the group Forensic Anthropology and Paleobiology, from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, all at the University of Coimbra. Her main subjects are Periodontology, periodontal Medicine and Oral Cancer
