João Franco Machado is a Resident Pharmacist of Clinical Chemistry at Western Lisbon Hospital Centre since January 2024. He has an Integrated Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (PharmD) by the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon (2016) and a PhD degree in Chemistry by the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon (2024). _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ João started his research path as an undergraduate student at the Research Institute for Medicines (Portugal) in 2012. After graduating in 2016, he moved to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (Switzerland) to work as a Researcher and Teaching Assistant (2016-2017). João was named "Highly Commended in Chemical & Pharmaceutical Sciences" by The Global Undergraduate Awards (Dublin) under the patronage of His Excellency the President of Ireland in 2017. Afterwards, he moved back to Portugal to purse a PhD in Bioinorganic Chemistry, jointly at the Centre for Structural Chemistry and at the Centre for Nuclear Sciences and Technologies (2018-2024). Currently, João develops his research activities at the Clinical Pathology Department of São Francisco Xavier's University Hospital. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ João's major scientific activity focuses on Clinical and Medicinal Inorganic Chemistry. He is currently interested in developing novel metallodrugs for diagnosis and precision therapy of renal, cardiac, and malignant diseases. He has published a total of 12 articles, 1 international patent, 1 book chapter, 8 proceedings, 6 other publications, 14 oral communications, and 29 poster communications (h-index: 9).
