Luís Conceição holds a PhD in Computer Science (2023) from the University of Minho, a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering (2017) from the School of Engineering of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (ISEP), and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering (2014) from the same institution. He is currently an Assistant Professor at ISEP and a Researcher at GECAD (Research Group on Intelligent Engineering and Computing for Advanced Innovation and Development, UIDB/00760/2020), a research unit rated as Excellent by the Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation (FCT). His research focuses on Artificial Intelligence (AI), with an emphasis on multi-agent systems, decision support systems, and natural language processing. He is the international coordinator of the REMO project, fostering collaboration between academic institutions and industry partners from multiple countries to develop robust and efficient AI solutions for decision-making optimization. He has participated in several R&D projects, including international initiatives funded by Horizon Europe, H2020, and ITEA, as well as national projects supported by FCT and P2020, serving as Principal Investigator (PI) or co-PI in some of them. Throughout these projects, he has worked closely with national and international companies and technology centers. He has published more than 30 scientific articles in indexed conferences and journals, contributing to advancements in AI research. He also serves as a reviewer for scientific journals and as a member of scientific committees for international conferences. Throughout his academic career, he has supervised master’s students and participated in dissertation and thesis juries. Currently, he supervises 9 master's students, 4 undergraduate students, and co-supervises 2 PhD students. Beyond academic and research activities, he maintains strong industry collaborations, applying AI to domains such as Industry 4.0 and Healthcare. His contributions have been recognized through awards and distinctions, including a prize awarded within the Inno4Health project, highlighting the impact of his research and technological innovation. Over the past two years, he has actively participated in AI dissemination and awareness initiatives, promoting responsible and ethical AI use within the community. This includes guest lectures at public and private institutions, as well as participation in roundtable discussions focused on the latest AI advancements and their societal impact.
