Sofia Oliveira is a PhD student at Center for MicroElectroMechanical Systems (CMEMs) at University of Minho. Her PhD project focus on development of a multi-stimuli (light and ultrasounds) medical device to regenerate knee cartilage in collaboration with Centre of Biological Engineering (Braga, PT), Clínica Espregueira - FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence (Porto, PT) and Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, William Beaumont Hospital (Michigan, USA). She concluded her integrated master´s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minho in 2019. Her master thesis was developed at i3B´s Research Group (UMinho) in collaboration with Charles Perkins Centre from the University of Sydney and focused on the development of biofunctionalized tubular scaffolds for vascular tissue engineering. Sofia has 6 years of research and academic experience (national and international) and she is well-versed in 2D and 3D cell culture.
