José Aldónio Oliveira Figueira concluiu a Licenciatura em Bioquímica em 2010, seguida do Mestrado em Bioquímica Aplicada em 2015, frequentando o Doutoramento em Química Alimentar pela Universidade da Madeira. É Colaborador no Centro de Química da Madeira, na Universidade da Madeira desde 2011. Publicou 13 artigos em revistas especializadas, e 3 capítulos de livros. Organizou 2 eventos, fazendo parte da Organização do XV Encontro de Química dos Alimentos e colaborou na organização do 6th Conference on Inorganic Chemistry. Participou ainda em 18 eventos nacionais e internacionais. Dos trabalhos desenvolvidos resultaram várias comunicações em Conferências nacionais e internacionais, nomeadamente 22 comunicações Orais e 41 Comunicações em Painel, sendo que recebeu 1 prémio e 1 Travel Grant pelos trabalhos apresentados. Actua na área de Ciências Exatas com ênfase em Química Alimentar e Química Analítica, e nas Ciências Naturais com ênfase em Ciências Biológicas e Bioquímica. Nas suas actividades profissionais interagiu com 35 colaboradores em coautorias de trabalhos científicos. A sua atividade de interesse recai sobre a pesquisa e desenvolvimento de novas metodologias analíticas para avaliar doenças que envolvem dano oxidativo, como doenças oncológicas; Caracterização dos compostos bioativos presentes em diferentes matrizes alimentares e seus efeitos protetores à saúde contra doenças de alta prevalência (papel do consumo moderado de vinho, dieta mediterrânea e alimentos bioativos) Os termos mais frequentes na contextualização da produção científica e tecnológica são: Bioquímica; Estratégia extrativa; NTME; MVSA; GC-qMS; VOMs; SPME; Cromotografia; MEPS; UHPLC; Metabolitos voláteis; Produtos Naturais; Polifenóis; Bioativos; Antioxidantes; Antihipertensivos. É membro do Corpo Nacional de Escutas desde 1989, sendo actualmente Dirigente, tendo adquirido competências de gestão Administrativa Financeira e de Recursos Humanos, tal como ética e organização de trabalho.
