Lucas Martínez-Ramírez is currently a research fellow at Universidade do Algarve - Centre of Marine Sciences (CCMAR). His main research interests include the ecology of marine fish species and the management of fisheries activities. He has participated in different projects at CCMAR. In the MINOUW project he characterised a traditional trap fishery off the Portuguese west coast with great potential for the sustainable exploitation of the high-valued Norway lobster. As part of the Inforbiomares project, he investigated the effects of a small marine protected area on soft-sediment fish populations. This research led to the publication of two papers, one of which he authored as the lead investigator. Now at the STRAITS project, he is performing acoustic telemetry analyses on a variety of fish species, with a particular focus on meagre spatial ecology.
