Joana Campos, after completing her degree in Biology at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP), furthered her academic journey by attaining a Master's degree in Quality Control from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto (FFUP), being acknowledged with an Honourable Mention for her master's thesis by the Portuguese Nutrition Association. From 2014 to 2018, Joana developed her PhD (SFRH/BD/93091/2013) in Pharmaceutical Sciences with specialization in Microbiology, being the thesis focused on the study of Salmonella high-risk clones and their detection by high-throughput omics techniques. Joana possesses a decade of experience (2009-2019) at UCIBIO@REQUIMTE BACT_DRUGS Research Lab (https://ucibio.pt/research-groups/lab/bactdrugs), specializing in antimicrobial resistance. Her focus included the detection, genomic epidemiology, and ecology of multi-drug resistant bacteria across various settings. In 2019, Joana was selected as Junior Researcher (POCI-01-0145-FEDER-029777) at i3S (Institute for Research and Innovation in Health, University of Porto; https://www.i3s.up.pt/), an associate laboratory to the Portuguese Government and a leading biomedical research institution in Portugal, where she was dedicated in microbiome, genomic, bioinformatic, and immunologic studies. Subsequently, in 2022, she transitioned to the biotechnology research sector at a cosmetic/pharmaceutical company, where she worked as a Researcher and Project Manager. In 2023, Joana was selected as Postdoctoral Researcher and Project Manager for the project WASTELESS, funded by the EU (G.A.: 101084222; https://wastelesseu.com/) and coordinated by University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD). Additionally, in 2023, Joana became part of the Scientific and Technical Support Panels and Working Groups of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA; EOI/EFSA/2022/01). Since 2024, Joana was invited as a Professor in School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS), and is a Researcher in the Department of Aquatic Production (Laboratory of Microbiology and Food Technology Laboratory). Joana work has been successfully recognized in other professional activities, as mentor including main supervisor of students from different Faculties of University of Porto, Portugal (12, 2009-2022); main arguer of Bachelor and Master degrees graduation, and PhD Seminar (5, 2017-2022); invited teacher in master classes on bacteriology topics (2014-2017 in FFUP; 2023 in UTAD); invited reviewer of several papers (since 2018) and scientific journals Topical Advisory Panel Member and Guest Editor of Special Issues (since 2021), and Book Editor (since 2023). Overall, Joana published 26 papers (Scopus: h-index=16; 17.6% with international collaboration; >1180 citations: 88.2% of documents in the top 25% most cited documents worldwide; 94.1% of documents in the top 25% journals by SJR and SNIP, and 88.2% by CiteScore), received 14 awards, and participated in 15 competitive funding projects, including with international collaborations.
