David Piló is a researcher at Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA). He concluded his PHD in Marine Management and Conservation from the University of Cádiz - Spain (2007) and the Master degree in Marine Biology with the specialization in Marine Ecology and Conservation (2007) and a degree in Marine Biology (2006) from the University of Algarve - Portugal. His work focuses mainly on marine ecology, biodiversity and conservation as well small-scale fisheries management and fisheries ecology, with special focus on the impacts of invasive species on fishing activities. Over the last 15 years, he collaborated in several national and international research projects and authored or co-authored 27 peer-reviewed international papers, mainly related to anthropogenic impacts on marine communities throughout the use of biological and ecological indicators.
