I am a multidisciplinary researcher affiliated with the Centre of Marine Sciences (CCMAR) in Portugal, where I have amassed a diverse portfolio and accrued over a decade of expertise in formulating comprehensive strategies aimed at fostering more responsible practices within aquaculture and fisheries. Driven by an unwavering passion for aquatic life, my career has been dedicated to unraveling the intricacies of fish biology and welfare. I have achieved notable advancements in the realm of fish behavior, contributing valuable insights into their complex social structures and adaptive responses to environmental challenges. Presently, my research endeavors are focused on pioneering proteomic techniques designed to assess and enhance the well-being of aquatic species. This current trajectory has significantly deepened our understanding of the physiological and molecular aspects of fish welfare, thereby facilitating the validation of strategies aimed at improving welfare management plans on both commercial and global scales. 2018/12 - 2019/01 Worked as consultant to develop an aquaponics unit (agriculture plus aquaculture synergie) in the south of Portugal integrating both vegetables and fish. It was asked to develop and design suitable infrastructures to promote the growth of vegetables and fish in systems of recirculated water, to perform an risk assessment and cost of production report , as well as of management practices and investments designed to generate positive growth of the unit. Additionally, a prospection of market to see consumers acceptance of its target products.
