J. Leonel Rocha completed his undergraduate studies in Mathematics at the University of the Azores in 1994, followed by a Master's degree in Applied Mathematics at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST-UL), in 1998. His Master's thesis, titled "Hausdorff Dimension of Fractal Sets Generated by Iterated Function Systems," was conducted under the supervision of J. Sousa Ramos. Subsequently, he obtained his Ph.D. in Mathematics at IST-UL, in 2004, with the dissertation entitled "Topological and Metrical Invariants of Low-Dimensional Dynamical Systems," also under the supervision of J. Sousa Ramos. Since 1997, his research has focused on discrete dynamical systems. He has continued his scientific activity in Applied Mathematics at the Center for Statistics and Applications of University of Lisbon (CEAUL), since 2008. His curriculum vitae contains about 60 articles, he has been an associate editor of the International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, since 2018, and has recently been a member of Topic Editors of Mathematics - MDPI, Dynamical Systems Section. J. Leonel Rocha has been Coordinator Professor with habilitation degree in the Department of Mathematics at Lisbon's Higher Institute of Engineering (ISEL) since 2022, has been Coordinator Professor since 2006, and has held various positions in ISEL's academic management, including: Representative of the Scientific Area of Mathematics on the Coordinating Committee of the Scientific Council, Operational Director of the Academic Unit of Mathematics on the Board of Directors, Coordinator of the Mathematical and Numerical Analysis Section of the Department of Mathematics and President of the Department of Mathematics (2 terms). Since then, he has been a member of the documental application process for the public examination 15 times and president of the jury 9 times, for the promotions in the teaching career of the higher education polytechnic.
