Eduarda Pereira is a PhD student in Sustainable Chemistry (FCUP), conducting her research in a collaboration between CI-IPOP and LAQV/REQUIMTE. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry (2021, University of Aveiro), and a master’s degree in Health Biochemistry (2023, E2S-IPP). During her bachelor's degree, she carried out a graduation project that focused on the metabolic characterization of bioactive compounds in camel urine, through techniques such as GC-MS and NMR. During her master's thesis, Eduarda developed an electrochemical genosensor capable of unequivocally detect toxic microalgae from the genus Dinophysis, using electrochemistry and molecular biology. To date, Eduarda participated in several national and international scientific events, with four oral communications and six panel communications; and has two submitted peer-reviewed papers (as first author) in high impact scientific journals. In addition, she is team member of the Iberian-American CYTED project "GEnoPsySEn: Development of genosensors for pharmacogenics target in the central nervous system" (P223RT0141); and was a volunteer researcher on the FCT project “MTS/SAS/0077/2020-Honey+”, in which she collaborated in the development of a paper-based electrochemical genosensor as a tool to control honey authenticity. Eduarda completed additional training in different areas, including an advanced course in forensic sciences (University of Aveiro, 2022), a professional training course in oncobiology (Liga Portuguesa Contra o Cancro, 2023), an online course on biosensors "First EMERGE online school" (Emerging Printed Electronics Research Infrastructure, 2023) and an advanced course on cell culture ("Cell culture techniques: from basic cell biology to bioengineering", School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS), 2024). Eduarda was also an Invited Assistant professor at E2S-IPP/ISEP where she lectured laboratorial classes of Molecular and Cellular Biology. During her scientific career, Eduarda developed important skills, such as critical thinking, communication, teamwork, time management, adaptability and resilience. Her research interests include electrochemistry, biosensors, biochemistry, molecular biology and health sciences.
