My research activity started during undergraduate studies with analogue modelling experiments reproducing C/S fabrics in simple shear, at the Tectonophysics and Experimental Tectonics Laboratory (LATTEX). During the Msc thesis I studied the neotectonics and seismotectonics of the interference zone of two active faults in Portugal mainland: The Odemira-Ávila and Vidigueira-Moura faults. The research plan included field work, remote sensing analysis and the analogue modelling of the interference faults using brittle-viscous experimental apparatus. I have also collaborated with scientists from Barcelona University to define methods to identify and study slow active faults in Iberia (including Azores islands). My PhD was focussed in the relation between micro-seismicity, high magnitude earthquakes and active faults in Gulf of Cadiz area. The research followed both geophysical and geological methodologies: processing the seismic activity recorded in ocean bottom seismometers network; Processing and interpretation of multichannel seismic (MCS) reflection profiles and integrating information from available geophysical and geological data. The results based on a unique dataset were innovative for the study area. In the final discussion, we point out the presence of fluids and fault zones metassomatism as controlling factors for the depth of local micro-seismicity and promoting fault rupture propagation during extreme events such as the 1755 Great Lisbon Earthquake. I have collaborated in national and international projects, working as research fellow in projects dedicated to analogue and numerical modelling of case studies in the Eurasia-Nubia Plate Boundary (Modelink, FCT funding). As part of the EMODnet Geology project (EU funding), I worked in the National seismology operational centre, build and improved geophysical and geological datasets for EMODnet data portal. I have participated in the acquisition of MCS reflection profiles and recovery of OBS in campaigns off-shore SW Iberia Margin as part as the TOPOMED and NEAREST projects. I contribute to research projects, campaigns and IODP proposals. I am the author and co-author of 7 in highly ranked journals, 3 book chapters and conference papers with a total of 209 citations. Since completion of my PhD degree (June 2017), I participated in SERA- Horizon 2020 project workshop on active faults in SW Iberia Margin; attended several workshops on earthquake fault mechanics and modelling. I have 3 years of post-doc experience in research projects. I´ve participated in several outreach activities and presented my work on invited talks and at seminars.
