Susana Viegas is a professor and researcher at NOVA National School of Public Health and member of the Comprehensive Health Research Centre. She has a PhD in Public Health, Masters in Toxicology and Occupational Health and a bachelor on Environmental Health. She is a European Registered Toxicologist (ERT). Susana Viegas lectures on Environmental and Occupational Health and coordinates several research projects on environmental determinants of health, exposure assessment and risk assessment. She is involved as a researcher and coordinates several working packages and tasks in EU projects such as PARC, K-HealthinAir, NEMESIS and INTERCAMBIO. She is a member of the European Chemicals Agency Committee for Risk Assessment and of the Scientific Committee of the European Environment Agency in the topic of Environment & health-chemicals. Since 2021, she is collaborating as a visiting scientist with the Monographs Programme of the International Agency for Research on Cancer, World Health Organization. Prof. Viegas is also a member of the Technical Advisory Group on Occupational Burden of Disease Estimation of World Health Organization. She has authored and co-authored more than 140 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals as well as 400+ conference abstracts.
