Luís M. R. Oliveira received the Electrical Engineering diploma, the MSc degree in Electrical Engineering and the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal, in 1995, 2001 and 2014, respectively. In 1996 he joined the University of Algarve, Portugal, where he is currently an Coordinating Professor. He presently teaches power electronics, electrical energy systems and power systems protection devices. He is a researcher in CISE – Electromechatronic Systems Research Centre, Covilhã, Portugal. He has published more than 30 scientific papers in international journals, books and conferences and frequently acts as reviewer for conferences and journals. His research interests include electric power systems components, renewable energy technologies and power electronic applications to power systems, with particular emphasis to condition monitoring, fault diagnostics and protection algorithms.
