My name is Catarina Marreiros, I'm 29 years and I'm a Pharmacist. I've completed my Master in Pharmaceutical Siences in 2017 by University of Algarve (Ualg), Faro, Portugal . During my daily pharmaceutical practice I have realised the true impact of cardiovascular disease in people's quality of life and the thought of helping people through other fields nurture even more. I developed the ambition to work in healthcare research areas. My curiosity about science lead me to work, firstly, as a research trainee volunteer and then in a MSc research fellowship under the frame of a program EP-INTERREG VA Spain-Portugal, helded in CCMAR- University of Algarve (ALGARED5E+) where I had the opportunity to screen for anti-inflammatory properties in Algae extracts. At the moment, I'm currently on my 3rd year Biomedical Sciences PhD (FCT Schoolarship), where I'm focusing on the development of a biomarker for cardiovascular disease risk assessment. I'm studying a vitamin K-dependent protein, named Gla Rich Protein and I'm assessing its serum levels in chronic kidney disease populations, through the establishment of several clinical studies. I'm also a team member in research projects within the Functional Biochemistry and Proteomics (FBP) group in CCMAR, University of Algarve, Faro, Portugal
