I hold a Bachelor in Biological Sciences and a Master in Marine Biology from the Polytechnic University of Marche (UNIVPM), Italy. I have experience in reproductive biology of Teleost fishes and the biotechnological application of hormonal treatments in the aquaculture industry; fish nutrition and development of experimental diets with new ingredients such as Insect meals, microalgae, seaweed and halophyte plants; Comparative developmental biology with a substantial focus on the ontogeny of bone and cartilaginous structures. Currently, I'm involved in my Ph.D in biomedical sciences at the University of Algarve - Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Portugal, exploring the potential of extracts and compounds from marine organisms with osteogenic and regenerative bioactivity. I screen extracts and compounds with skeletal-related bioactivity and characterize them for their possible applications in the field of biomedicine and aquaculture. I Investigate molecular mechanism and cellular dynamics underlying the bioactivity of these extracts and compounds by the use of in vitro systems such as skeletal cell lines and in vivo tools based on Zebrafish and Medaka. I apply the morphometrical analysis of ontogenetic (larvae skeletogenesis) and regenerative models (regeneration of caudal fin and cycloid scales), and the use transgenic reporter lines and mutant lines recapitulating human skeletal diseases, allowing to asses the induction of positive bone phenotypes in animal treated by extracts and compounds.

2017/05 - 2017/08 Fixed-term contract for the MIPAAF as ICCAT Fishing Observer during the Bluefin Tuna Fishing Campaign 2017. Duties: I was in charge of the supervision for the fishing operations of bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus), reporting any violation of the regulations in constant contact with the fisheries control authorities. I drafted a detailed mission report with video-photographic documentation and collected biometric data or biological samples for the ICCAT Scientific committee (Standing Committee on Research and Statistic or SCRS).
