As an Anthropologist I am interested in understanding how we evolve and adapt to the environment, culturally and biologically. As such, I have been investigating the evolution of cranial form and function of humans and the palaeobiology of past populations, and recently (2020) I was awarded an FCT CEEC contract to continue this line of research. To those ends I use conventional and computerized methods to examine form (conventional and Geometric Morphometrics) and simulate mechanical function (Finite Element Analysis). Having worked in contract and research archaeology for over 10 years, I am also interested in the funerary practices of past populations.
