Rodrigo Coelho completed his PhD in Physics in 2017 from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He is a Researcher at the University of Lisbon-Center for Theoretical and Computational Physics. In his PhD and Master's degrees, he worked with the Lattice Boltzmann method applied to semi-classical fluids. He did a one-year research internship at ETH Zürich, where he developed numerical methods for simulating electrons in graphene in the hydrodynamic regime. In industry, he was a research intern at IBM Research, where he studied the behaviour of fluids in porous media and he also worked as a Lattice Boltzmann Development Engineer at Numeca International, a Belgian software company specialized in fluid simulation. He currently works on fluid simulations in Soft Matter Physics, including liquid crystals, active nematics and complex fluids in porous media. He is a task leader and co-PI in two funded research projects on liquid crystals and was PI in one exploratory project of advanced computing.
