Kate is a hydrogeology, coastal systems, and sustainability specialist. She has over a decade of experience in sustainability and hydrogeology-related fields, leading projects in Silicon Valley, North America, and Europe, the Middle East, and the Africa region. At Google, she ran the Urban Ecology Program, directed the implementation of the Biophilic Design Framework, and oversaw stringent Indoor Environmental Quality criteria. In Portugal, she also attained a research scholarship funded by the Center of Water Science and Technologies at the University of Algarve and Águas do Algarve. Groundwater monitoring, chemical analysis, environmental reporting, and mitigation strategies were the primary deliverables of the project. As an invited speaker, Kate has presented on sustainability and hydrogeology at regional and international conferences. Prior to joining Google, Kate held positions at Mary Davidge Associates, The Alliance to Save Energy, Patagonia, and consulted for a publicly owned water company in central California. She currently lives in Portugal and recently completed an MSc in Marine and Coastal Systems.
