Pedro Pintassilgo holds a Ph.D. in Natural Resource Economics from the New University of Lisbon. He is presently Full Professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Algarve, Portugal, and Director of the BSc program in Economics. His previous management experience includes the role of Director of the Master in Tourism Economics and Regional Development. Over the last 20 years, he has taught extensively in the fields of Economics, Quantitative Methods and Sustainable Tourism. He has also supervised more than 20 master and PhD thesis. His research is focused in environmental and natural resource economics, in particular the use of bio-economic modelling to support fisheries management, the application of game theory to the management of internationally shared fisheries, and the interaction between tourism and the environment. He has published in influential journals in the field of Economics, such as, Environmental & Resource Economics, Journal of Public Economics and Marine Resource Economics. He has also published in distinguished journals in the field of Tourism Management, such as, Journal of Travel Research, Tourism Management, and Tourism Management Perspectives. He participated in several international research projects and served as project reviewer for the Research Council of Norway.
