Anthony P. Moreira holds a BSc in Marine Biology and Biotechnology – Aquaculture and Fisheries from ESTM–IPL (Portugal), and an MSc in Applied Biology – Marine Biology from the University of Aveiro (Portugal). He completed his PhD in October 2018, funded by FCT (SFRH/BD/93107/2013), with a thesis titled Comparative Performance of Crassostrea Species in Portugal and Brazil: Climate Change Implications, developed at the University of Aveiro in collaboration with UNESP (Brazil). Following his PhD, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Aveiro on the project Symbiolite – A Novel Microbial-Algal Calcification Process Driven by Coral Symbiotic Algae: Structure, Function, Ecological Role, and Evolutionary Significance (9 months). In 2020, he contributed to the project CtLight – Effects of Light on the Photobiology and Growth of the Commercially Valuable Macroalga Codium tomentosum as an Assistant Researcher at UA. Since December 2020, he has been a Junior Researcher at the University of Aveiro, supported by a Scientific Employment Stimulus Grant (FCT CEECIND/01422/2018), under a 6-year contract. His current research focuses on the development of drug delivery systems to mitigate diseases affecting shellfish aquaculture, particularly through the use of microalgae-derived biomaterials such as biosilica for drug delivery and microencapsulation platforms.
