Maria began her musical studies at the Gregorian Institute in Lisbon. She completed a degree in harpsichord at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague (Netherlands), a master's degree in singing - specialized in early music ensemble at the Fontys Conservatory in Tilburg (Netherlands), a master's degree in Medieval and Renaissance keyboards at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Switzerland), a master's degree in early music theory at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and a master's degree in harpsichord teaching at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (ESML). She completed an internship at ESML (Erasmus + Traineeship program) through which she taught Historical Praxis, Counterpoint and Ornamentation for Singers. She also obtained a grant from CESEM/FCT for a research project on Improvised Counterpoint and Solmization, also carried out at ESML. She is a member of the Mundos & Fundos project as a collaborator. She was a guest external examiner for final exams of the master's degree in Medieval and Renaissance keyboards at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. She is the founder of the ensemble Ars Lusitana, dedicated to the research and performance of Portuguese repertoire (15th-18th centuries) and co-founder of Ensemble 258, with which she organized the cycle 7 Colinas / 7 Cantatas in 2020 and 2022, a series of concerts in various architectural monuments in the city of Lisbon. Maria is the vice-president of the Asociación Ars Hispana, which focuses on recovering and publishing Spanish repertoire, and vice-president of the board of the Associação Miradouro do Silêncio. She works regularly with the ensembles O Bando de Surunyo, La Academia de los Nocturnos, Cantores Sancti Gregorii and Palma Choralis. She has also participated in projects with Bach Koor Holland, 7 Lágrimas, Grupo Vocal Olisipo, Suave Armonia, La Danserye, Capella Sanctae Crucis among others. She is co-founder of Custos Records, with which she has produced two albums. She is currently studying for a PhD in Artistic Studies - Music at the University of Coimbra, an occupation she complements with concert activity and private lessons in singing, harpsichord and harp. She received the FCT doctoral program scholarship in 2023.
