Mr. Adelio Fumo is currently enrolled into in a Doctoral Program in Chemical Engineering at the Aveiro University (Portugal) started in the academic year of 2023/2024. He worked on his research project in the group focused on energy and industrial applications in (CICECO-Aveiro Institute of Materials). Adelio Fumo received a PhD grant under a collaborative protocol between FCT (Portugal) and CEE, and he will tackle the challenge of integrating green steelmaking with hydrogen production in his PhD project, "Sustainable Production of Iron Alloys Coupled with Green Hydrogen Generation. He also worked under his Master research project in the group of Preparation and Degradation of Materials, Unit of Characterization, Corrosion and degradation of Materials with Technological Interest at the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering in 2014/2016. The objective of the project was functionalization of novel AZ91/SiC metal matrix composites obtained by semisolid processing using an advanced surface treatment technique of Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation and evaluation of tribological and corrosion properties of the newly generated materials. The topic belongs to a novel and little explored area with a large industrial potential in transport and energy sector applications. Adelio Fumo has a great interest in developing CO2-freee electrochemical technology to produce both Fe alloys and green H2, to offering direct benefits to society and advancements in the metallurgical sector.
