Teresa Rocha-Santos obtained a degree in Analytical Chemistry (1996), a Ph.D. in Chemistry (2000), and an Aggregation in Chemistry
(2018) at University of Aveiro (UA). In 2001, she was awarded a prize for her PhD studies. At Instituto Piaget, she was Assistant
Professor (2000-2009), Associate Professor (2009-2014), coordinated the environmental chemistry graduation, and was responsible
for: ERASMUS office; Chemistry labs; the research unit of Exact and Bioecological Sciences; and member of scientific, pedagogic,
and disciplinary councils, and Advisory Board. Until 2010, she lectured about 12 hours per week and from 2010 to 2014 about
4 hours per week. Since 2014 she is working at Department of Chemistry (DQ) and CESAM, University of Aveiro: 2014-2019-Principal
Researcher, 2019(November)-2020- invited scientist, 2020(February)-2020-Assistant Researcher, 2020(June)-to now¿Principal
Researcher with Aggregation. Since 2015, she lectured about 3-4 hours per week at DQ-UA and has been a member of Executive
Commission of UA Doctoral School (2015-2019). She has been PI of CESAM Environmental Contaminants Assessment & Remediation
Laboratory (2018-2020) and Co-PI of CESAM Environmental Biology & Health(EBH) Thematic Line (2018-2021). From 2021 (May) she
is Vice-Coordinator of CESAM. She published more than 200 papers in SCI journals (Scopus). She has a total of 15314 citations(Scopus),
and h-index of 57 (4/02/2024. She was leader of 8 R&D projects and a participant in 24 (FCT, H2020, MAR2020/FEAMP, P2020/FEDER)
contributing to a budget of 9.4 M€. She reviewed 380 papers(Publons). She is author of 1 patent and editor of 9 books and
1 Handbook. She supervised/co-supervised a total of 93 students/researchers:43 graduation students, 12 PhD students(8 finished),
13 MSc students(12 finished), 4 post-doctoral researchers, 15 fellowships under the scope of research projects (15 finished).
She has been panel member for evaluation of projects for EU Commission and international institutions (eg: Swedish EPA: microplastics
call, Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR), Environment and health review panel, Portuguese Science foundation, NERC/UK
Research and Innovation, Natural Environment Research Council, University of Pau - Evaluation of proposals for Junior Researcher
Positions (microplastics area), University of Vienna- Review of proposal on microplastics subject for Research Platforms,
ERANET RUS Plus Joint call for S&T projects, NSERC's Discovery Grant applications Canada, EURAMET projects, COST actions,
FCT PhD grants, ERC grants). She has also been monitoring European projects and evaluating mid-term and final European project
reports. She has been member of the pannel of evaluation of research units (Hcères, France). She organized and was member
of the scientific committee of several national/international conferences. In the last five years, she has been internationally
recognized as microplastics expert with consequent requests for evaluating proposals for research positions/platforms in International
Universities on this area. She has also been invited by the Group of Chief Scientific Advisors of EU as microplastics expert
to participate in the Experts Workshop: Environmental and Health impacts of microplastic pollution-from scientific evidence
to policy advise at Brussels and to participate at G7 Microplastics Biomonitoring, 2019, Paris. In the last five years, she
became a member of She has been a member of the Editorial/Advisory Board from 8 journals. She has been Associate Editor of
EMJEI(2017-2023) and JHM(2019-2023). She is Executive Editor of JHM(> 2023) and (Co-)Editor in Chief of JHM Advances(>2021)
and Guest Editor of 7 special issues on micro-nanoplastics. From 2017, her research teamwork gained worldwide public visibility
and she has been invited for interviews, and scientific communications. In 2023 she has a total of 18 highly cited publications
(WoS, viewed january 2022) and she is a highly cited researcher (Clarivate)..
