Ana Isabel Ribeiro (AIR) finished her Ph.D. in Textile Engineering at the Centre for Textile Science and Technology (2C2T) at the University of Minho Portugal with an individual grant from Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT), with the subject "Atmospheric-pressure plasma deposition of antimicrobial hybrid nanocomposites for biomedical textiles". Previously, AIR graduated in Chemistry (2010) and obtained a Master's in Medicinal Chemistry (2013). Later, AIR completed a second graduation in Textile Engineering (2017). From 2014 to 2016, AIR worked in the textile printing industry. For two years, She was a product manager in implementing quality standards and product certification. She also managed the testing laboratory and controlled the stock of chemical products according to the Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL). From the end of 2016, AIR joined 2C2T as a researcher in the PLASMATEX, a European Union-funded network project, to develop a "Novel type of antibacterial coatings on textile materials and plastics with the controllable release of antibacterial agent. Afterwards, in parallel with her PhD, She integrated the project PLASMAMED funded by FCT (2018-2022). Furthermore, AIR had an active role in funding acquisition and developing the project MEDCOR on the topic "Antimicrobial and halochromic fibre-based wound dressings using novel pyrimidine-derived molecules" (since 2021). Thus, since 2016, AIR has been interested in developing antimicrobial and smart textiles for biomedical applications by functionalising fibrous materials with nanoparticles and novel compounds. After PhD, AIR has been working on projects within the scope of the circular economy. AIR was a Post-Doc Researcher at the Centre of Biological Engineering (CEB), University of Minho, in the Blue EU Project, looking for sustainable alternatives to stabilise residue fibrous materials of animal origin from the food industry. Nowadays, AIR is an Invited Researcher at 2C2T, coordinating tasks in projects with close collaboration with companies on recycling industrial textile residues (Lusitano Project funded by IAPMEI) and extracting alternative fibres from biological resources (BE@T project funded by Portuguese Government). AIR has interdisciplinary scientific knowledge in nanotechnology, pharmacology, drug delivery, material science, biomaterials, conductive materials, tissue engineering, biosensors and sustainability. In the last few years, AIR was the author of 21 peer-reviewed papers in international journals (10 as first author), 5 book chapters and 10 conference papers with an h-factor of 12 in Scopus (474 citations excluding self-citations). AIR has participated in several knowledge dissemination activities with 40 participations in national and international meetings (including 4 oral presentations, 19 poster presentations, 40 conference abstracts and in organising 5 events). In the last 5 years, AIR mentored MSc students (10) and PhD students (4). AIR is also the Supervisor of 2 MSc and 1 PhD students. In addition, AIR is a Guest Editor of two special Issues of the MDPI journals and reviewed in 12 Q1/Q2 scientific journals. The participation in COST proposals and international projects amplified her global network. She had the privilege to collaborate with 82 Researchers spread across 10 countries. On a constant journey, AIR's motivations are to create a better future by embracing challenges based on the highest standards and combining multidisciplinary teams, creativity and engineering.
