I started working at the Hercules laboratory of the University of Évora in 2014. During this period, I had the chance to grow professionally, and to apply on cultural heritage the scientific knowledge that I acquired during my undergraduate and master's degrees at the Padova University (Italy), and during the IMQP Erasmus Mundus Master in Portugal (Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro University) and abroad (France-MNHN, Italy-Florentine Museum of Prehistory/ Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of Tuscany, The Philippines - University of the Philippines Diliman). I did different studies on cultural heritage and geological materials, and I acquired a strong laboratory ability in samples preparation and characterization using several methods and analytical techniques (petrography, XRD, XRF, SEM-EDS, ICP-MS, LA-ICP-MS, FT-IR, µRaman), in addition to different physical and mechanical tests (Helium pycnometry, water vapour permeability, mechanical strength). I also participated in several research projects with a different focus. In all cases, my expertise was important, and it helped in the spreading of different scientific outputs. Thanks to the development of my PhD thesis, I gave a fundamental contribution to the understanding of Islamic ceramics in Portugal, namely in what concern to raw material selection and use for ceramic production, ceramic provenance, glazed decoration characteristics, and the preservation of craftsmanship know-how since the Islamic period to local traditional ceramic productions. I also collaborated in the study of different cultural heritage materials such as mortars, pigment identification, metals analysis using a portable XRF, rocks characterization, and no-destructive analysis on painting and photographs. At present, I am carrying on my studies on Islamic glazed ceramics in the framework of the Paradise (Hercules Laboratory) and Puma (University of Évora) projects. In 2024 I did different trainig period both i n Italy and Austria. The goal was to expand my analytical competences and to establish new scientifc collaboration. Finally, during the last call for FCT exploratory projects in all scientific domains (2023) my first project was awared (GC-CIGA. Glaze Ceramic Introduction and Consumption in the Garb al-Andalus). It is an international project including portuguese and spanish institutions, and it will focus on Middle Ages Islamic ceramic from both countries to understand the introduction and consumption of glazed islamic wares in weastern Iberia.
