Elizabete Loureiro, Psychologist, holds a PhD in BioMedicine from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) and a Master Degree in Health Psychology, from the University of Minho. She belongs to the Department of Clinical Neurosciences and Mental Health of the FMUP. She is head of the Psychological Counselling Unit – Psi FMUP – and the Student Support Office at FMUP since 2003. She is the coordinator of the Psychological Intervention Group (GIP.UP) of the University of Porto (2021-2023) and belongs to the Mental Health promotion Group (GPSM) of the University of Porto. Integrated researcher at CINTESIS@RISE – Centre of Research on Technologies and Health Services. Since 2007, she has been working in the field of Clinical Communication Competencies, having received specialized training (eg tEACH courses – Teaching Committee of the International Association for Communication in HealthCare - EACH). Until 2018 she was the Portuguese National Representative at EACH (International Association for Communication in Health Care). Collaborates in training sessions at the FMUP Biomedical Simulation Center (within the scope of non-technical skills for healthcare teams). She is a member of SESAM (European Simulation Society), integrating the Scientific Committee (2018-2022). She is responsible for the Practical Course on Communication of Bad News at FMUP and, until 2020, was an Invited Assistant Professor at FMUP (Humanities in Medicine, Communication in HealthCare Teams Communication Skills in Pediatrics and Reflective Practice). From February to July 2016 she was responsible for Psychology II at the Faculty of Medical Dentistry of the University of Porto. Since 2005 she integrated collaboration and development projects between FMUP and medical schools in Angola and Mozambique, having been researcher in the following projects: IPAD (2005-2012) Leadher (2009), Edulink (as scientific coordinator) (2009-2013) all in the scope of student support and counselling services in Medical Education. She is author or co-author of 20 papers in national and international scientific journals, has presented 47 oral communications, 11 posters and 16 workshops in scientific meetings.
