At the end of 2011, João Pereira received her MSc degree in Materials Science and Engineering (final grade 14) at University of Aveiro (UA), Portugal (PT). During this period, he gathered knowledge in the areas of synthesis, processing and characterization of a wide range of materials, spanning from metals and ceramics to polymers. He developed his Master Thesis entitled “Electrode Materials for Carbon Dioxide Separation Membranes”, being awarded with a final grade of 16/20, which has culminated in 2 articles published in high-ranked journals (Electrochimica Acta, impact factor = 7.336), one of them as first-author. Also, he developed expertise technical expertise in several techniques such as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis and scanning electron microscopy. From 2012 up to 2018, he was lab and quality technician across 3 industries: Innovano, Bosch Security Systems and Composite Solutions, wherein he has contributed for the development of new products, experimental validation and writing proposals for R&D projects (in particular at Composite Solutions company). Wishing to increase his problem-solving skills and critical thinking, he enrolled in the Science and Materials Engineering PhD program in 2021. From 2021 up to now, he holds a research fellow in the scope of the project 3D Compcer project “Additive manufacturing of ceramic based composites for mechanical components” at ESAN-UA, wherein he has been gathered expertise in additive manufacturing, in particular in vat polymerization. His proficiency encompasses materials science and engineering, ceramic composites, stereolithography, materials processing and characterization.
