Hannah S Heil graduated in 2015 in Nanotechnology (MSc. Nanostrukturtechnik) from the Julius-Maximilian-University of Würzburg and completed a doctoral degree (Dr. rer. nat.) with the Graduate School of Life Science at the same University in 2020. Since obtaining her Master’s degree Hannah S Heil published 6 articles in international peer reviewed journals, the 3 first author publications achieve an accumulated impact factor of 49.5. During her doctoral studies Hannah S Heil presented her work at international conferences in both poster (Focus on Microscopy 2019 – London, Biophysical Society 62nd Annual Meeting - San Francisco, SMLM Symposium 2018 - Berlin) and oral presentations (Focus on Microscopy 2017 – Bordeaux, 53rd Winter Seminar 2018 -Klosters). Her work was highlighted as a Flash talk at the Focus on Microscopy 2019 and as a Rapid-Fire Talk at the Biophysical Society 62nd Annual Meeting. In her position as a doctoral student and continuing later as a postdoctoral researcher at the Rudolf Virchow Center for Integrative and Translational Bioimaging of the University of Würzburg Hannah S Heil has trained and supervised students pursuing Msc. (2) and MD degrees (3). Furthermore, beyond the project of her doctoral studies Hannah S Heil successfully worked in collaboration with fundamental, pre-clinical and even clinical scientists at the Biocenter, the Rudolf Virchow Center and university hospital in Würzburg. Hannah S Heil was involved in two Collaborative Research Centers (DFG-funded CRC/TR166: ReceptorLight, Würzburg & Jena, and CRC/TR240: Platelets, Würzburg & Tübingen). Hannah S Heil contributes to the life science community as a member of the German Physics Society (DPG) and the Biophysical Society. In 2019 Hannah S Heil was selected as participant of the Janelia Junior Scientist Workshop on Biological Optical Microscopy at Janelia Farm, USA, to explore and discuss emerging techniques and challenges within an interdisciplinary environment. Hannah S Heil actively advocates her science via twitter (@Hannah_SuperRes, 437 followers, up to 15 000 impressions) and ensures accessibility of her work by publishing preprints (bioRxiv) and sharing data and code on public repositories (Zenodo, OSF).
