Martim Santos, PhD, is a Research Fellow at the Psychology Research Centre (CIPsi), School of Psychology, University of Minho. In 2019, he was awarded a PhD Grant in a competitive call, funded by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), and completed his PhD in Applied Psychology at the University of Minho in 2024, with praise and distinction by unanimity (Very Good). He also has an Integrated Master's Degree in Psychology from the same higher education institution (2017) and has the title of specialist psychologist in clinical and health psychology awarded by the Portuguese Psychologists Association (OPP). He has expertise, clinical practice in a specialized psychotherapy consultation, and training in cognitive-behavioral psychotherapies, clinical neuropsychology, and family-based systemic interventions. His main research lines focus on the triad patient-family-health outcomes, including the neuropsychophysiological, psychosocial, and psychopathology processes associated with several public health concerns, such as chronic illnesses (e.g., cancer, multiple sclerosis) and adverse childhood experiences (e.g., burn injuries), from a biopsychosocial perspective, in order to inform the design of evidence-based intervention programs and public health and educational policies aimed at preventing disease/mental illness and promoting health and quality of life in patients and their families/caregivers/parents. Martim Santos has extensive scientific work with societal impact and has published more than ten papers in peer-reviewed international journals with impact factor (indexed on Web of Science or Scopus), which have resulted in over 130 citations (Scopus h-index: 5; Field-weighted citation impact: 1.44). He has received 3 FCT-funded fellowships and has relevant experience as a speaker, reviewer, organizer, and moderator of scientific events in the field of clinical and health psychology.
