Prof. Manuel Ricardo has Licenciatura (1988), MSc (1992) and PhD (2000) degrees in Electrical and Computers Engineering (Telecommunications) from University of Porto (FEUP). Currently he is professor Catedrático at FEUP where he teaches since 1996 courses mainly on Computer Networks and Wireless Networks. At FEUP, he has been member of the following scientific committees: MIEEC (2007-2010), MAP-TELE doctoral program (2007-2011), and doctoral program on EEC (PDEEC, since 2018-2022). He the director of ECE department since 2023. Prof. Manuel Ricardo carries out his research activities at the INESC TEC research institute. He created the Wireless Networks research group (25+ researchers) in 2001 and led it until 2011. From 2012 to 2018 he led the Centre for Telecommunications and Multimedia (~100 researchers). He led the cluster of research centers on Networked Intelligent Systems (~200 researchers) from 2015 to 2021. He was member of the board of directors of INESC TEC from 2018 to 2021. Currently he is an associate director at INESC TEC, focused in telecommunications. and the President of the Scientific Council of INESC TEC. He supervised 17 PhD students and ~100 MSc and Licenciatura students. He created the Portuguese research thematic Network on Mobile Communications (RTCM) in 2004. He is member of the Advisoty Board of the ns-3 network simulator consortium. He is member of the steering committee of the European supported conference EuCNC, on Communications and Networks. His research interests include radio resource management, network congestion control, wireless networks, quality of service, and performance evaluation. Manuel Ricardo has published 150+ research papers and participated in ~60 research projects.
