Pedro Marques Gomes holds a PhD in Contemporary History, from Faculty of Human and Social Sciences, New University of Lisbon.
Guest Assistant Professor at School of Media and Communication-Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon and at Faculty of Human and
Social Sciences, New University of Lisbon. Researcher at Mário Soares e Maria Barroso Foundation and at HTC-History, Territories
and Communities (NOVA-FCSH). He has collaborated on several scientific research projects and published articles in edited
volumes and national and international journals. Author of the books A Imprensa na Revolução: Os Novos Jornais e as Lutas
Políticas de 1975 (INCM, 2021), Breve História do Partido Socialista(Público/100 Folhas, 2019), Os Saneamentos políticos no
«Diário de Notícias» no Verão Quente de 1975 (Alêtheia, 2014), and co-editor of A Revolução nos Media (Tinta-da-China, 2014),
Polícia(s) e Segurança Pública: História e Perspetivas Contemporâneas (MUP, 2020), A Liberdade por Princípio (Tinta-da-China,
2021), Polícia(s) no Portugal Contemporâneo (MUP, 2022), Media e Jornalismo em tempos de ditadura (Âncora, 2024). He is the
co-chair of the History of Communication Working Group of the Portuguese Association of Communication Sciences. Currently,
he is member of the editorial board and researcher of the project "The complete works of Mário Soares" and member of Mário
Soares Centenary organizing committee. His main research areas are the history of media and journalism, history of the revolutionary
process (1974-1975), Portuguese socialist party and biography of Mário Soares. He has received the award from the Fundação
Mário Soares - Fundação EDP 2019, Contemporary History, with his PhD thesis.
