Marta Afonso holds a Bachelor’s degree in modern Languages and Literatures - Portuguese Studies from the University of Porto in 2005, and completed a Postgraduate course in Romance Literatures in 2006. She later obtained a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Linguistics from the University of Santiago de Compostela in 2010, and completed her doctoral thesis, titled "Portuguese Documents: (1270-1285): edition, linguistic study, and glossary," at the same institution in 2023. Marta Afonso specializes in the fields of History of the Portuguese Language, Philology, Variation, and Corpus Linguistics. Her professional experience includes lecturing roles at the Universities of Provence and Nice as part of the Camões Institute, as well as serving as an Invited Assistant Professor at the University of Porto's Faculty of Arts. Currently, she works as a consultant on Artificial Intelligence projects and teaches Portuguese as a Foreign Language.
