Miguel Azenha is an Associate Professor at the Structural Division in the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Minho, His research interests comprise: (i) numerical and experimental study of concrete at early ages regarding phenomena such as thermo-hygral-mechanical couplings, concrete properties evolution during hydration, creep and shrinkage; (ii) use of digital processes in construction, namely Building Information Modelling. Chairman of COST Action TU1404 ¿Towards the next generation of standards for service life of cement-based materials and structures¿, secretary of RILEM TC on ¿Thermal cracking of massive concrete structures¿. Coordinator of the Portuguese National Course in ¿Building Information Modelling¿ and member of the national BIM Drafting Committee. Director of the ERASMUS+ Master Course in Building Information Modelling.

2013 - 2013 Invited by the Federal University of Ceará (Brazil) laboratory as a visiting researcher in Fortaleza during 1 week in May 2013. This period as visiting researcher corresponds to the continuity of an international collaboration in the scope of monitoring and numerical simulation of concrete structural behaviour at early ages in dams (started in 2011 with ELETROBRAS-FURNAS).
2012/08/27 - 2012/08/31 Invited by the Concrete Laboratory of the University of Tokyo (headed by Prof. Koichi Maekawa) as a visiting researcher in Tokyo during 1 week in August 2012 (27th-31st). This period as visiting researcher allowed the consolidation of the research interchange relationship between Portugal and Japan, particularly in the scope of the numerical simulation of concrete behaviour, as well as experimental techniques for characterization.
2011 - 2011 Invited by the Brazilian Company ELETROBRAS-FURNAS (one of the major electric suppliers in Brazil) to join their concrete laboratory as a visiting researcher in Goiânia during 1 week in August 2011. This period as visiting researcher allowed establishing grounds for an international collaboration in the scope of monitoring and numerical simulation of concrete structural behaviour at early ages in dams and concrete wind towers.
