Estefanía Uberegui Bernad completed her Bachelor¿s degree in Biotechnology at the University of Lleida (Spain) in 2010 and worked as an undergraduate student in three different laboratories. She concluded her Master¿s and PhD degrees in Plant Biotechnology at the University of Salamanca in 2011 and 2015. During her PhD in IRNASA-CSIC (Spain), she worked in the characterization of the structure and function of the protein family Executer involved in reactive oxygen species signalling in Arabidopsis chloroplasts. To learn and apply new methodologies into the PhD research, she visited the EEZ-CSIC (Spain) and the University of Umeä (Sweden). Afterward, she worked in ISGlobal (Spain) to study the known malaria resistance markers in blood samples of pregnant women infected with HIV and malaria, and in the departments of Quality control, R&D and Production of the company Biotechrabbit (Berlín, Germany) to produce high-quality enzymes and reagents forPCR. In 2018, she worked as a postdoc in the MPIMP (Potsdam, Germany) to study the natural variation in flower sizeof Arabidopsis thaliana in response to changing environments. From February 2020 to October 2022, she worked as a postdoc in the lab of Dr. Isabel Abreu under the supervision of Dr. Ana Fortunato at ITQB NOVA, Oeiras, to study the miRNAs and their target genes in response to drought in grape rootstocks. Currently, she works in the Genetics and Genomics of Plant Complex Traits (PlantX) Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Carlota Vaz Patto. She contributes with her expertise in molecular biology techniques and stress response to the environment to study plant growth regulation in model plants under abiotic stresses. She aims is to apply this knowledge in crops under limited-growth conditions, as those reported with future climate change, to increase crop yield and quality and improve future food security.
