I graduated in Physics in 2007 in Universidad de La Laguna (Spain). After that I did my PhD in astrophysics in the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (2007-2011), studying the impact of the formation and presence of planets on the chemical abundances of their hosting stars. My first paper (as a second author) was published in Nature and showed how solar analogues with giant planets have a lower abundance of lithium with respect to stars without detected planets. In 2012 I became a FCT postdoc fellow at the Instituto de Astrofísica e Ciências do Espaço (IA) where I expanded my research to other topics such as the chemical evolution of the Galaxy, the detection of exoplanets around evolved stars and the study of NIR spectra. In 2017 I started a highly competitive (12% success rate) Investigador FCT contract at IA. Later, I got a position in the 4th Stimulus FCT call (assistant level, 11% success rate) to continue my research since 2022. During my stay at IA I have been the PI of two exploratory projects of 50kE and I have been PI of a transnational collaboration project with Brasil and Co-I of 4 large projects since 2014 (with a total budget of more than 700kE). Recently, I got a prestigious Ramon y Cajal tenure track position in Spain. I am involved in several international consortia, being member of PLATO 2.0 Working Package dedicated to stellar parameters and a Co-I of the Gaia-ESO Survey. I belong to the Science Core Team of NIRPS, as well, a new NIR high-resolution spectrograph installed in La Silla Observatory (Chile). Furthermore, my long experience in the chemical characterization of planetary host stars allowed me to be the leader of the ARIEL sub Working Group on stellar abundances. So far I have published 137 refereed papers in international high impact journals (including Nature and Nature Astronomy), 12 as 1st author and 12 as 2nd author, that have accumulated more than 6500 citations (H-index of 45, NASA ADS - http://adsabs.harvard.edu) and presented my results in 38 talks in international conferences and invited seminars. Currently I'm supervising 2 PhD students and I supervised 2 successful PhD projects. I also co-supervised three MSc thesis and seven undergraduate research grants. I have taught stellar evolution classes in the Master of Astronomy&Astrophysics in University of Porto. As a member of the Executive Board of my institute (2018-2021) I was in charge of the management of research center budget and of the coordination of scientific activities and I participated in many evaluation panels for project researcher contracts, PhD positions and MSc and research initiation grants, among other activities. I have participated in more than 70 successful observing proposals, 14 of them as PI, in international facilities such as ESO (Chile), Roque de los Muchachos (Spain), Subaru or IRTF (Hawaii). In the past years, I served as OPC member to evaluate ESO proposals (2015, 2016, 2023 and 2024), as external evaluator for JWST Cycle 2 (2023) and as external consultant for OPTICON proposals (2019,2021,2023) and for research projects funded by the Argentinian Ministry of Science (2015). I serve as referee for the journals ApJ, A&A, MNRAS; Nature and PASP. I was jury for 4 PhD thesis defenses at Observatoire de la Coté d'Azur (Nice, France), at Universidad de La Laguna/IAC (Spain), at Universitiy of Porto and at Universidad Complutense (Spain), and for 3 MSc thesis defense at University of Porto. I was also jury for the 2018, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 Annual evaluation sessions of the Astronomy PhD program at University of Porto. Regarding the organization of scientific events, I was in charge of the seminar program of IA during 4 years. Moreover, I have organized 8 international meetings either in the LOC or in the SOC. Finally, I have also participated in different outreach events including radio and TV interviews, podcasts, public talks, press releases and the Women and Girls in astronomy day.
