Carmen Muñoz Perez is a Doctor (PhD) in Art History and Archaeology. Her doctoral thesis (Ecole du Louvre / Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3) was focused on Egyptian amulets and their relationship with funerary practices, mostly mummification, from the collection of the Musée du Louvre. She was interested in their typology and iconography, but also their material and their symbolism. She is currently working on an official catalogue for publishing this collection which will be accessible for both specialists and the general public. After a History Degree (Universidad de Cádiz), she has obtained a Master Research in Art History and Archaeology (Université Paris-Nanterre) and a Master Research in Cultural Heritage Conservation (Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne). During her studies, she has participated in several archaeological and research programs, and she is involved in different international projects. She has been awarded a post-doctoral fellowship (Juan de la Cierva) to research the funerary amulets of Southwest Spain.
