Paulo Catry holds a first degree in Biologia in 1993 by Faculdade de Ciências, Universidade de Lisboa, and a PhD Degree in Environmental and Evolutionary Ecology (obtained in 1997 at the University of Glasgow, UK). He obtained the title of Habilitation in 2021 (area: Behavioural Biology) at ISPA - Instituto Universitário de Ciências Psicológicas, Sociais e da Vida. He is currently an Assistant Professor in ISPA, where he teaches General Ecology, Marine Ecology and Seabird Biology. As a researcher, he is associated with MARE - Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre & ARNET - Aquatic Research Network. His main area of expertise is Ecology and Behavioural Ecology, using birds and marine turtles as models. Most of his research focuses on spatial and movement ecology, feeding ecology, migration and conservation in marine environments. He published over 200 articles in international journals, authored/edited 10 books and supervised 12 PhD thesis. In January 2024 he had 7458 citations in Google Scholar and a H-index of 50. He participated as Principal Investigator in 18 projects, and as Researcher in 5 projects, funded by FCT, as well as many others. He has coordinated 2 long-term seabird studies continuously for the past 21 years, in Madeira and the Falklands. In his professional activities interacted with more than 500 collaborators in co-authorship of scientific papers. In his curriculum Ciência Vitae the most frequent terms in the context of scientific, technological and artistic-cultural output are: Modelling; Migration; Population biology; Demography; Diet and foraging ecology; Marine Sciences and Technologies; Movement and spatial ecology.
