Márcia Lemos was born in the city of Porto (Portugal), in 1982. Since 2008 she is a member of the Centre for English, Translation, and Anglo-Portuguese Studies (CETAPS), a dynamic research centre promoting research and activities with high national and international reach (https://www.cetaps.com); and, more recently, in 2021, she became a member of CICET-FCVC, a research centre founded by the Consuelo Vieira da Costa Foundation whose main purpose is to promote applied research in the fields of business sciences, hospitality management and tourism (https://fundacaoconsuelovcosta.pt/en/cicet/). She holds a BA in Modern Languages and Literatures (2005) and an MA in Anglo-American Studies (2008), both from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of University of Porto (Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto / FLUP). Also at FLUP, she completed her Ph.D. project in 2014, a comparative study of James Joyce’s Finnegans Wake and Samuel Beckett’s Murphy, on a state-funded merit fellowship granted by the Foundation for Science and Technology. She has presented papers in several national and international conferences, and she has published in different magazines and scholarly journals, as well as in international collective volumes. She has been book reviewer for Utopian Studies, a peer-reviewed publication of the Society for Utopian Studies; she has organised four issues of the on-line journal E-topia (9, 11, 12, 13); and, as a guest editor, in 2014, she has also co-organised two issues of Via Panoramica: Revista de Estudos Anglo-Americanos / A Journal of Anglo-American Studies. Between 2019 and 2023 she was executive editor of Via Panoramica (http://ojs.letras.up.pt/index.php/VP/index) and she organised 10 issues of the journal. In 2020 she organised and published an international collection titled Literature Against Paralysis in Joyce and His Counterparts: The Other Dubliners. She has also co-edited international collections such as: Exchanges between Literature and Science from the 1800s to the 2000s: Converging Realms (2017), with Miguel Ramalhete Gomes; and Literature and the Arts since the 1960s: Protest, Identity and the Imagination (2020), with Jorge Almeida e Pinho. From September 2019 to August 2023 she was Visiting Adjunct Professor at ISAG - European Business School; and in September 2023 she became Adjunct Professor at ISAG where she also coordinates the BA in Business Relations and the Scientific Area of Modern Languages. She is primarily interested in English and American Literature, Modern Languages and Utopian Studies.
