Maria João Mimoso has been a university professor since 1986. She obtained her doctorate in Law in 2007. Throughout her career as a Higher Education professor, she has been a member of Scientific and Pedagogical bodies several times in the institutions where she taught and teaches. She was Coordinator of the 1st Cycle of Studies in Law at Universidade Portucalense Infante D. Henrique 2011-2014, member of the FCT 2013/14 evaluation panel (Doctoral and Post-Doctoral Scholarships), external expert FCT 2015 (Doctoral and Post-Doctoral Scholarships) and Coordinator of the 3rd Cycle of Studies in Legal Sciences 2018-2023 at Universidade Portucalense Infante D. Henrique. She is currently Coordinator of the 2nd Cycle of Studies in Forensic Legal Science. She has participated in research projects in the area of Legal Science, in Portugal and abroad, namely National Co-rapporteur of the Specific Program Civil Justice, Civil Justice Action Grants 2009, the European Commission, Maribor University, Faculty of Law, “Vereinfachte Forderungsbetreibung in der EU /Simplification of Debt Collection in EU” and National Rapporteur for the Specific Program Civil Justice, Civil Justice Action Grants 2012, the European Commission, Maribor University, Faculty of Law, “European Dimension of taking of Evidence”. She was Coordinator of the “Capital, Labor, Tax and Trade” research group at Instituto Jurídica Portucalense – IJP until July 2020. Her research focuses on private international law and national and international contract law. She is the author of a dissertation and a thesis, having given public examinations in Portugal and Spain, respectively, Master's and Doctorate in Law. In addition to these works, she published articles on Private International Law, texts of resolved practical cases, articles in national and foreign magazines and several compendiums of legislation. She is also the author of several opinions, some of which are published and cited in jurisprudence. She is an arbitrator in commercial and consumer arbitration.
