I started my superior education studies in 2017 at the University of Beira Interior. There I completed my BSc and later my MSc, both in Biochemistry. The laboratory component was always present in my study plan, having worked in several areas of biology and chemistry throughout my trajectory. My journey terminated after I defended my dissertation on November 29, 2022. This project was developed in the infertility area, combining the study of an alternative biological matrix with the most advanced detection methods. It guaranteed me a classification of 20/20 points, two published articles as the first author in an international, peer-reviewed journal, and participation in the 12º Encontro Nacional de Cromatografia with a poster. During the MSc, I had the pleasure of being part of the toxicological research group of the Health Sciences Research Centre (CICS), where I was able to acquire and deepen competencies related to techniques that encompass derivatization, extraction (MEPS, SPME, SPE, LLE, DLLME) in biological matrices, analytical methods (GC-MS, GC-MS/MS, HPLC-PDA) also applied to different matrices, as well as analytical validation of methodologies according to international guidelines and protocol optimization. From this knowledge, more two publications have emerged. As I participated in several events in the form of seminars, workshops, and conferences, I was also able to further develop my knowledge and skills on women's fertility and health. This subject is of paramount significance, piquing my interest to pursue future investigations. Throughout the five years of my academic career, I have been a responsible, dynamic, reliable, and active student. I spent four years as a member of the University of Beira Interior's Chemistry Students Association (UBIQuímica), rising through the ranks from collaborator to member of the scientific department to vice president. Additionally, I added the Academic Association of the University of Beira Interior (AAUBI) as a Fiscal Council member in 2022. My involvement in several academic and scientific events of high national significance enabled me to advance my organizational abilities. I had the opportunity to enrol in two internships that solidified and improved my knowledge and working skills. In the internship at D.I.N., Desenvolvimento e Inovação Nutricional S.A., I worked as a Food Quality Control Technician for two months between the second and third years of my BSc. There, I acquired competencies in safety, sanitary, and quality control measures in microbiology and applied chemistry laboratories. After finishing my MSc, I joined an Erasmus+ project, which led me to an internship at ISABIAL, Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria y Biomédica de Alicante, in Alicante, for three months. I worked as a young investigator in the projects carried out by the Pain Linked Pharmacology Group, also being involved in the study and processing of data, monitorization of consultations, collection of questionnaires and samples, participation in scientific presentations, and writing of articles. With the same tenacity, seriousness, and commitment I've shown thus far, I hope to continue my education in fertility science.
