Inês Ventura is a PhD student at the Bioadhesion and Biomimicry research group (https://bioadhesion.rd.ciencias.ulisboa.pt) at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (FCUL). Combining a BSc in Evolutionary Biology and Development (2017), a MSc in Biomedical Research (2021) and a post-graduation in Science Communication (2022), Inês scientific research has been focused on marine bio adhesion, molecular biology and blue biotechnology. Working towards two UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 9 and SDG 14), her PhD project won a FCT scholarship (2021.08460.BD) to unravel the molecular components essencial for marine adhesion aiming to develop new products with biotechnological applications (in collaboration with Biology of Marine Organisms and Biomimetics at University of Mons and Protein Misfolding and Amyloids in Biomedicine laboratory at University of Lisbon). Her work integrates an EU-funded project coordinated by FCUL (https://twin2pipsa.campus.ciencias.ulisboa.pt) that joins a multidisciplinary team that aims to understand functional and pathological protein self-assembly and identify the interactions that underlie the rational design of protein-based bio-materials and therapeutic antibodies. Up until now, she is the first author of 2 published peer-reviewed international papers (2017, 2023) and co-author of other 2 (2017). As a first author of 10 posters and 2 oral communications presented in several national and international events, she has been awarded with 2 fully founded travel/attendance grants to the USA and Vienna. Participating in several workshops, training schools and entrepreneurship programs, she was also a guest speaker in several national science communication events.
